4 Toxic Behaviors That are Making you Unhappy (and you didn’t realize it)5 min read

We all have a common goal, to be Happy. We all deserve to be happy, but most of us are not and we start developing toxic behaviors that we don’t even know we do it until we realize it.

If you are not happy you simply can’t be healthy mentally, physically and emotionally. You are feeling dissatisfaction with yourself and have developed a behavior that’s extremely harmful to you.

There’s a big range of behaviors but I have decided to hand pick a few of them to illustrate my point and those are the once that I find most common in people with such behavior.

1. You Compare Yourself to Those you Don’t Know.

Most of us have done this so don’t feel bad if you did it or still do it, the main point here is not to judge but to grow as a person and learn, also realize what’s wrong.

How can you compare to a person you haven’t met? That’s easy nowadays with social media, you see everyone posing in a perfect life, where they are on holiday, what they are eating and how happy they are.

The reality of it is not so, nobody’s perfect and nobody has a perfect life, it might seem so on social media, but you need to understand that’s a lie and you cannot compare yourself to anyone, its simply not making you grow, learn and be a better person.

Without even realizing it, you are consuming a photo of happiness through a lens on social media, it’s important to understand that happiness is available and free to everyone, it’s a state of mind.

You need to focus on yourself, on your own happiness, thru social media comparing yourself you will never reach it, stop looking at the other people’s garden and just look at your own, take care of it, love it, appreciate it, because it’s your own garden.

2. You Keep Busy on Purpose.

First of all, here we need to understand two things first. Keeping busy doesn’t mean you are also being productive, if you’re keeping busy on purpose without being productive it means you’re running away from something you don’t want to think of.

Running away from your feelings it won’t help, they will catch up with you in the end. The best thing to do is Stop whatever you are doing, inhale a deep breath and start to focus on what you’re really doing.

You need to learn to accept whatever it is you’re running from, make peace with it and then you can finally start to be productive without the need to keep busy all the time, you will also feel refreshed, fresh and with a heavy burden off your shoulders.

The sooner you realize this the better, you can keep this up for years on end but in the end you will be too tired to keep running, it will catch up and you’ve just wasted years of your life keeping busy, running like a horse and not thinking straight. I hope this helps you.

3. You Don’t Listen To Yourself

We all have another person inside our head that talks to us, it can be our friend or our worse enemy, I have had them both but I have stacked with the friend.

We all have an inner voice inside, this inner voice can benefit you greatly, it is your intuition, the part of yourself that can be your friend and tell you to turn left when your logic self knows for sure you need to make a right.

This gut feeling, this intuition you need to accept, to start paying attention and to balance it out, listen to it a few times to see where it leads you, listen to yourself.

Pay attention to your dreams, talk to yourself and listen to your intuition, the sooner you start doing those things you will start feeling better, making better decisions, you will stop running away from yourself.

It will also help you face your fears head-on so you can begin walking towards a happy life of bliss.

4. You Allow Fear To Imprison You.

Fear is your dominating factor in your life, fear gets you stuck many times. Fear of failure, fear of success, fear of never being happy or even fear of being too happy.

If you let fear dictate your life like that you will never escape it. As the saying goes “You can’t escape what you’re afraid of”. Fear has its way of stopping you from enjoying anything, good or bad.

As your inner voice fear also need to be accepted and be challenged head-on, if you run away from fear, just as the other problems it will catch up with you and eventually you will get there, so better decide soon to face fear and get rid of it than to live a life full of it.

Fear is toxic and it will rob your happiness away if you let it, it will suck the joy out of everything in your life, you need to realize how important it is to get rid of it and I cannot stress enough that fear is like a 50kg dumbbell you have to carry with you everywhere you go.
